The ServSwitch™ Agility over IP Extenders enable you to do more and go farther with pixel perfect digital video over nearly unlimited distances within your TCP/IP network.
The flexible topology of the Agility gives you extension applications that are brand new for KVM extenders. The Agility can be a KVM Extender, a KVM switch, a sharing portal, a DVI extender, a trading desk switch and much, much more—it’s up to you how you decide to configure it.
Point-to-point KVM Extender
In the most straightforward configuration, use the Agility as a point-to-point KVM extender. Connect a CAT6 cable directly between a transmitter and a receiver to deliver pixel perfect DVI, audio, and USB over distances up to 100m. If you need cable runs longer than 100m, connect your transmitter and receiver over a network to achieve nearly unlimited distances. You can configure this setup to go to multiple screens at one time or add new units for additional functionality.
The new Dual-Head ServSwitch™ Agility (ACR1002) also offers an additional SFP port converting it into a fibre extender. Choose a multimode SFP and cable for distances up to 500m, or a Single-Mode SFP and cable for distances as great as 10.000m.
Switching network
Enable your network to perform like a KVM switch with the Agility. When you change channels on the receiver unit, you switch DVI, audio, and USB, while the transmitters not in use continue to emulate the previously attached devices. Create a KVM switch with as many users and CPUs as you want—just keep adding receivers and transmitters. With individually definable channels, combine video, audio, and USB devices from different destinations in different combinations.
Single-target sharing & Pooling
In this configuration, multiple users can share a single remote computer. Users can connect in three ways:
- View-only shows only the video feed.
- In Share Mode, an open connection is available for all users to use the connected devices at the same time.
- In Exclusive Mode, one user locks out the other users, preventing them from viewing or sharing the connection, with the exception of network administrators.
Multicasting
This unique feature enables the Agility to multicast video and audio, over your IP network, to as many receivers as you want with no distance limitations. To prevent saturating the network, a network switch supporting IGMP is recommended. This may be required if a receiver isn’t set up to explicitly receive a multicast, for example. This is an ideal configuration for digital signage applications.
Trading Desk
The Agility’s unique channel switching lets you define switching presets in any combination, on any receiver. For a Trading Desk application you can define switching presets by just moving the keyboard, mouse and/or audio activity to another source, while the video channels remain unchanged on your monitors.
Management system: iPATH
The ServSwitch Agility Controller Unit offers a management suite enabling you to remotely and securely configure all the transmitter and receiver units within your KVM switching or sharing system. Define new content channels, restrict and enable access privileges, push control, disable specific USB device classes, and so on. The iPATH™ system is a single box that plugs directly into your network. Once plugged in, system administrators can begin configuring devices, users, and channels. The iPATH interface features a useful on-screen dashboard that gives you a current overview of the system. It is continually refreshed so you always have the most up-to-date system information. For smaller setups choose a ServSwitch Agility Controller Unit limited for 8 or 16 endpoints. These reduced endpoints controllers can be updated via optional upgrade licences to an open scale whenever the system is expanded. If your Agility system contains more than 16 endpoints (users and computers) than chosse the ACR1000A-CTL with unlimited endpoints.
Agility or Agility Dual
The ServSwitch Agility (ACR1000A) extends not just a single DVI video channel over CATx but the peripheral signals as well. The new ServSwitch Agility Dual (ACR1002A) is designed for multi-video applications. Use the Agility Dual to extend either two single-link DVI channels or one dual-link DVI channel alongside the peripheral signals. Dynamic bandwidth control ensures full HD pixel perfect video at 60Hz.
But the Agility Dual can do much more. Each transmitter and receiver features a SFP slot on the front that can be equipped with standard SFPs to extend your signals, without loss, up to 10km over fibre. Moreover, the Agility Dual offers an additional RJ-45 management port for remote access over VNC or Java to control the system, or immediate disaster recovery.
Possible applications:
• Distribute high-quality medical images to doctors and staff across large medical facilities. Agility uses standard Ethernet equipment, so the networking hardware doesn't need to be updated.
• In command and control room setups, multicast video and data to receiver units between LCD display walls. Users can interact with any of the computers using separate keyboards, mice, and DVI displays.
• Media post-production suites become collaborative with the Agility. Machine rooms store the media assets and hardware, and can distribute them throughout a post-production facility. Editors, producers, and directors can instantly communicate with animators and colorists.
• Get real flexibility for your digital signage network. All you need is an IP network running through the installation, and you can easily deliver content from one playout device via DVI. The number of screens is up to you.
• For another digital signage application, use the Agility to switch between multiple video sources.
• Deliver rich media experiences in public spaces, such as museums or libraries. The flexibility of the system makes reconfiguring your implementation a doddle.
